Badger – Badger can out dig gophers and moles signifying he is self-reliant. It is time to dig for practical and materialistic pursuits. It is a time for spiritual and mundane pursuits. Work hard at them now for they lay the foundation for the success of future projects.
The badger’s digging symbolizes its knowledge of herbs, roots, and minerals. Act aggressively and holistically when dealing with any health problems. Even though the badger may look fat it is far from it. The skin is loose so that the bites of other animals are less likely to injure it. The badger is very muscular and powerful. He is a loner in the animal world and also very skillful, tunneling after ground-dwelling rodents speedily. He can latch onto his pray and hold tight, since his jaw is permanently attached to his skull limiting jaw movement to up and down or side to side. He has been known to hunt with coyotes cooperatively.
Some are solitary critters living a nomadic life and others live in clans called cetes. While it’s good when living in a community helping out as necessary this card points out that it’s the solitary side that points to keeping our plans and activities to ourselves for their greatest success.
Badger young are born in the spring and will learn everything they need to know to survive on their own when they leave the cetes in the autumn. We know enough to live on our own and we must assert ourselves aggressively and we should see our successes with in a 5-6 months time frame.
The other side to this aggression is that we may be too harsh with our words and we may act the bully. Or are others around us acting this way to prevent our success? Are we relying too much on others and not enough on ourselves or vice versa? Is there miscommunication? Whatever the obstacles take a look beneath the surface to find the root of the issues. Trust your instincts. It is time to develop self-expression and self-reliance but do so with the help of the Divine. Through prayer and meditation answers are sought and given. Ask and listen, then you’ll know what is the proper course of action.
